Buying Rules for Childrens Scooters

Scooters are a great source of fun for children. They help them entertain, socialize and spend great time outdoors with their friends. More than that, scooters have been associated with an array of advantages for children’s health and mental development. Some of the most noteworthy benefits of these ride-on toys include: improving balance and coordination; developing fine motor skills; improving self confidence and so on.

With that being said, you have many reasons to start your quest for the best brands and retailers of childrens scooters and choose scooters that will bring fun and excitement into your children’s play. But before you buy one or more scooters, take a look at the most important things that you need to consider in order to make the best choice. So, let’s start from the beginning.

Childrens Scooters

  • Diameter – In general, the diameter of the scooter wheels range between 100 and 120mm. Wheels with bigger diameter provide a smoother ride, especially when driving on pavements or uneven terrain. On the other side, the smaller wheels are, more maneuverable and much better for doing tricks.
  • Width – The wider the wheels are the more stable the scooter is. So, if you are buying scooters for younger children that have no riding experience, look for scooters with wider wheels.
  • Material – PVC and polyurethane are the two most common materials from which the wheels of childrens scooters are made. Polyurethane is a softer material and offers a much smoother ride, while PVC is more durable but doesn’t provide the same ride smoothness.

Another important feature that determines the quality of the scooters is the rating of the bearings. In fact, bearings are rated from ABEC-1, ABEC-3 to ABEC-5. Simply said, the higher the rating is, the higher the quality of the scooter will be.

Weight of the Scooter

Lightweight scooters are easy for controlling and maneuvering. Thus they are a better option for younger children. On the other side, the heavier childrens scooters are stronger and more suitable for kids who have more experience in using a scooter. Also the heavier scooters are better for making tricks.

Height of the Handlebar

When buying a micro scooter, one of the most important factors you should pay attention to is the height of the handlebar. In fact, if the handlebar is to high or too low it will be more difficult for the kid to control the scooter, which is a also a safety threat. For that reason, make sure that the handlebar is around waist high on your child. Or, look for a a scooter with adjustable handlebar.

Wheel Deck

The width and the height of the wheel deck impact the balance and the comfort of your child on the scooter. In fact, wider wheel decks are usually sturdier and provide better balance, while the longer the wheel deck is the more comfortable the standing on the scooter will be.
